Celebrating poets: CORAL BRACHO
Hi Everyone,
I recently read Mexican poet Coral Bracho’s latest collection It Must Be a Misunderstanding, luminously translated by U.S. poet Forrest Gander. It’s an extended rumination on loss, specifically the loss of Bracho’s mother to Alzheimer’s—as well as the memories and language lost to the disease—and to their shared pasts. It’s a beautiful and haunting testament, a reminder of the fragility of our own stories.
I found a video of Forrest Gander discussing his translation of Bracho’s new book. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any of Bracho herself reading these poems.
Enjoy!
Abrazos,
Cristina
