Hi Everyone,
I hope your holidays were fun and peaceful and that you’re looking forward to a rewarding 2023! Writing prompts will resume this Thursday 1/5 along with our usual weekly features. Please stay tuned.
In the meanwhile, I’ve been thinking about other possibilities for continuing to build community in the coming year. Do let me know which, if any, appeal to you—or add your own suggestions—in the comments section:
Bimonthly book club via Zoom. All genres welcome.
More meetings with authors launching new books—including yourselves!
Quarterly Las Dos Brujas members’ readings. Sign-up to read 5-10 minutes from your work-in-progress.
Ongoing writing exchanges/feedback. Novelist Alejandro Nodarse, who taught two of our craft workshops last year, has agreed to shepherd this along. Thank you, Alejandro! Please see post dated 11/28 and contact Alejandro directly: alnodarse@gmail.com
Inviting agents and editors as occasional guests.
More craft workshops. Please let me know which aspects of craft you would welcome.
Occasional yoga for writers (this was a long ago suggestion from one of our members, who’s offered to teach a class).
** Just a friendly reminder that Las Dos Brujas is a non-profit newsletter. Your paid membership goes toward underwriting our workshops and will enable us to host more events and offer modest honoraria to future guests. Also, signing up as a “Founding Member” includes a phone or Zoom consultation with me every year. (So, please contact me for appointments, founding members—old and new!)
That’s it for now. I’m looking forward to your responses and to celebrating our growing community in myriad new ways!
Abrazos,
Cristina
PS: From my New Year’s Day walk: wishing yearning and reflection to all!
Every single one of those seems like an excellent idea!
I love all these ideas too. All craft workshops welcome, and any craft workshop (or several) on revision/ revising/ approaches to revising longer works would be incredible :) Happy New Year and thank you, as always, Cristina!!
