First online workshop of 2024: PERFORMING YOUR WORK! Sun., Feb. 25 @ 1pm ET/10 am PT

Hi Everyone,

As promised in my New Year’s post, I’d like to schedule the first of several workshops:

PERFORMING YOUR WORK: At one point or another, many of us will be reading our work in public. To go from the privacy of our home to facing a live audience can be daunting. Let’s discuss what works well aloud (hint: not always your most lyrical passages), what’s too long, how dialogue can enliven a reading, and more. Practice reading aloud with us. Encouraging feedback included. All genres welcome.

WHAT YOU NEED: Please bring 2-3 pages maximum of your work (double-spaced, please). Each participant will get a chance to read their piece aloud to the group and request feedback on the material and/or the performance. Don’t be afraid to theatricalize a bit.

Do let me know if you’re planning to attend in the comments section. I’d like to try to cap this at 10-12 participants so everyone has an opportunity to “perform.”
