Hi Everyone,
Just a friendly reminder about Dahlma’s workshop next week. Mark your calendars as you won’t want to miss this. I’ll be sending out a Zoom link the day before. Please confirm your attendance in the comments section!
Here’s a refresher of what’s in store:
CELEBRATING THE ANCESTORS
One of my favorite quotations is from my not-so-favorite, Ernest Hemingway. I paraphrase, “The past is not dead and gone. It’s not even past.”
Our society seems hell bent on focusing on a swiftly changing present and hurtling us towards an uncertain future. Many of us are so involved in the harried, boisterous, technologically supercharged world of today, that we rarely have a moment to stop, go within and contemplate how we have arrived on the morning of today and the guides who have led us to our current path.
This workshop is designed to do just that; carve out a space for memory, for the past, for your journey towards who you are on this day, right now. One way to do that is by celebrating what and who contributed to the you of today. It will be a time to sit quietly to think about who came before and savor what you have inherited from them.
It has been said that the best writing comes from deep within. Those things which touch us most, the most painful or the most joyful, make for the best writing. Here, we will go beneath the surface. We will excavate. Yes, we will laugh, possibly cry, and share the hard-won gifts that have been bequeathed to us by our ancestors.
Each participant is asked to have an ancestor keepsake handy during the workshop. It could be a photo, a piece of jewelry, or any object that reminds you of that person.
