Thinking prompt #10: HOW DO YOUR CHARACTERS LOVE?
Hi Everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how love “runs” in family systems.
In the novel I’ve just finished, one of my characters talks about “the kind of obsessive, ruinous love that ran in her family.” How everyone’s pasts—grandmother, cousins, herself—“were littered with heartbreak’s debris.”
YOUR PROMPT: What is the romantic ecosystem of the family(ies) you’re writing about? How are your characters’ childhoods still evident in the way they love? How was/is love handled? Celebrated? Denigrated?
Hint: Try this with one character first. The DNA for the whole family is frequently evident in each of its members.
Good luck with this one!
Abrazos,
Cristina
