Thinking prompt #2: BRAIN TALK
Hi Everyone,
If you haven’t yet had a chance to read Brain Talk by Dr. David Schnarch, I urge you to take a look. It’s a fascinating study—both scientific and richly anecdotal—about what he calls “mind mapping.” In short, how interpersonal relationships quite literally affect and change your brain.
Now I’m no neurobiologist, nor even scientifically inclined, but I found the book to be riveting, even revolutionary. I felt that its insights helped me better understand not only my own life and history but also proved extremely useful in developing fictional characters with greater depth, sensitivity, and complexity.
Your thinking prompt:
“Only the best in us talks about the worst in us because the worst in us lies about its own existence.” —Schnarch
Read this aloud a few times without judging, or rushing. Allow any resonances to emerge slowly. Let it lead you to an unexpected place in your work
Happy thinking!
Abrazos,
Cristina
