Writing prompt #101: THE EXTRAORDINARY ORDINARY
Hi Everyone,
This is just a friendly reminder that you don’t need pyrotechnics in your work—or anything forced or self-consciously magical (though don’t hold yourself back if circumstances extend into the otherworldly). All that is required for compelling writing is acute seeing and listening. In short, the well-observed, specific details that bring stories to life.
YOUR PROMPT: Select a short scene or segment in your work-in-progress that seems ordinary, or dull to you. Without changing what actually happens, take as much time as you need to really look and listen. Enhance (or supplant) what is already there with the alertness of your keenest senses. There is nothing that isn’t extraordinary if you pay close enough attention.
Enjoy!
Abrazos,
Cristina
