Writing prompt #61: TRAVEL, INTERRUPTED

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your patience as I begin to mix up our Las Dos Brujas playlist of writing prompts with other offerings. I’ll soon be introducing “thinking” prompts and announce a new free workshop later this week. Please stay tuned!

But for now, I’d like you to revisit that old writing adage about stories having two basic plots: 1) a stranger comes to town; or 2) someone goes on a journey.

YOUR PROMPT: Have your character embark on a journey—whether it’s across town, or halfway across the globe—only someone derails their plans. Insert a moment of unexpected violence. How does your character react? Focus on this pivotal scene and what’s revealed. Write two pages to start.
