Writing prompt #84: PROPAGANDA
Hi Everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how propaganda gets generated and disseminated on a global scale, no matter the actual facts. But propaganda can also work on more intimate scales—within families, in relationships, or the workplace—shifting dynamics and allegiances.
YOUR PROMPT: “Propaganda is a language that steers, hardens, and stupefies,” writes poet Jane Hirschfield. Write a scene where one character is propagandizing another person or group of people. Demonstrate—through words, deeds, repetition—propaganda’s insidious nature. What is the fall-out, psychologically and otherwise, in the context of your story?
Try 2-3 pages to start.
Be patient with this one. It may take a while to tease out.
Abrazos,
Cristina
