Writing prompt #87: DEEPENING THE ARGUMENT
Hi Everyone,
Where would our writing be without conflict, right? We’re often told that conflict is the fuel to any story—and yet an argument isn’t always what it appears to be on the surface. Here’s a quick prompt to help you get down into the archaeology of a dispute.
YOUR PROMPT: Write a scene where two characters—perhaps from the same family—are having the same-old argument. What is it they’re really fighting about? A past resentment? A childhood hurt? An unacknowledged theft? This time, allow a shift to occur, one that brings them dangerously close to what the deeper problem is. Does the truth finally break out into the open? Or, does it remain (seethingly) buried?
This one’s tricky but give it a try!
Abrazos,
Cristina
