Hi Everyone,
The wonderful poet Rainer Maria Rilke once wrote in a letter to his wife that a work of art is the outcome of having been in danger.
YOUR PROMPT: Where is the heart of danger in your work? The molten core that both draws you in and repels you? The danger that we try at all costs to avoid? This week, I want you to face that danger and begin writing its first crucial sentences, maybe just a page to start. Later, you can return to it—expanding, embroidering, editing—until you can hold the gaze on this danger long enough to tell its truth.
Good luck with this!
Abrazos,
Cristina
Certainly, Cristina. The site is open to most people and the writing and comment section is quite rich and well-moderated. Here is the main page: https://www.myretrospect.com/ and this week's prompt, as I mentioned earlier, is Danger.
The site is organized by weekly prompt and by author. Here is my page: https://www.myretrospect.com/author/charles-degelman/
You know, we have met several times, Cristina. We both attended a Cuban/American writers conference held at UNEAC in Havana many years ago, in 2000. And we've also said "hola" at various L.A. events over the years. Always a pleasure and am enjoying this newsletter. Substack is a great place, ¿que no?
I hope your people find the Retrospect site interesting and informative. People are invited to apply openly to participate.
Besos y abrazos,

We live in dangerous times! This week I wrote a similar prompt for a memoir site I edit.
