Writing prompt #94: WANTING v. GETTING
Hi Everyone,
A number of the books I’ve been reading lately are generating new prompts! In Thomas Brussig’s satirical novel, The Short End of the Sonnenallee, a savvy teenaged girl says to a hopeful Romeo: “Wanting something is much more interesting than having it.”
YOUR PROMPT: Imagine that your character has been fighting to get something they desperately want and … they succeed! What happens next? Is their reaction wildly joyous, or more mixed? Or even negative? What happens to all that emotional momentum? Does another hard-to-attain goal take its place? Often, success is a lot harder to portray than failure. Give this one a try.
Let me know this goes!
Abrazos,
Cristina
