Writing prompt #95: SHE SAID/THEY SAID
Hi Everyone,
Have you ever experienced an event with another person, only to have them remember it completely differently? Hmm … I thought so!
YOUR PROMPT: This is an exercise in competing narratives, which happens when people remember the same events differently. Conceive a scene in which two characters are present—the level of drama is up to you—then write the scene from each of their perspectives. How radically do their experiences diverge? What details do each of them fixate on? How important is it to either that their “version” of events prevails? Does this difference create tension, or even a rupture, in their relationship?
If you can harness this for work-in-progress, all the better. I’ll be curious to hear what develops for you!
Abrazos,
Cristina
