Hi Everyone.
Last week I was wonderfully inspired by the legendary jazz bassist Stanley Clarke and his band at a concert in San Francisco.
So, here’s what I’m proposing:
Listen to this 16-minute clip of a performance by Clarke and his friends some years back. Allow the music to wash over you, and start writing whatever comes to mind. Be as free as the music. Repeat as often as it’s helpful.
Enjoy—and let me know how this goes!
Abrazos,
Cristina
I want to throw myself to the lions. I plan to submit a short story to a crime theme salsa anthology. ( I can send you the link to share. ) The only thing I know about Salsa is how to dance it. The criteria requires the story to be written to a specific song and lyrics can’t be used but somehow must be referenced as well as the title, composer, and musicians. I have a thing for Héctor Lavoe so he was my first choice, but Willie Colón’s Junio 73 changed my mind. I am gonna try to hang the crime of arsons for profit in Chicago 1973 to the song. Cause you know PR history is my jam.
Cristina, can you suggest fabulous writing about music? I am interested in writing a story where the actual music of a particular song serves as the structure for the story. (There are no lyrics.) I have no musical training whatsoever, only a love for music.
