What, if anything, are you rereading these days? Have you discovered any new pleasures in old work? Were you disappointed by what you found? How did your memory hold up to the revisit?
Recently, I’ve reread THE LEOPARD by Giuseppe de Lampedusa (slow and ravishing, as always) and BERLIN STORIES by Christopher Isherwood (delightful and funnier than I remembered). I recommend them both.
Please post what you’re rereading or what’s on your ‘to reread’ list. I look forward to your suggestions!
I re-read Gifts from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindberg every summer. I would love to have the time to re-read all of Toni Morrison's works, Isabel Allende's House of the Spirits, Octavia Butler's Kindred, and all of Tananrive Due's Immortal African series. My To Read list is way too long to include here. But I am looking forward to reading Mexican Gothic, and studying a whole list of neo-slave narratives: The Yellow Wife, Freeman, Palace of Flowers, and A More Perfect Union.
What a terrific list, Dahlma! I overlap with you on wanting to reread Morrison and Allende--and look forward to delving into a number of your other suggestions. Gracias!!
I am re-reading “When the Emperor was Divine” by Julie Otsuka and “La trilogía sucia de La Habana” by Pedro Juan Gutiérrez. I needed a mix of sharp, economic sentences that carry weight and unvarnished reality, so this is where I’ve been as far as my literary landscape goes!
Alejandro! I miss you. I hope you’re well. I haven’t read these. Thanks for posting. It’s been a hard year, but I’m managing to re-read Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go. I love how its characters seek out privacy at every moment they get.

What a great literary combination! Assume this is fueling your work?
Absolutely! It is indeed doing just that!
I never hear of the Trilogía and will have to check it out. Thanks for sharing.
Fascinating and gritty!

Hola Raul! Definitely putting the Ishiguro on my to-read list. Abrazote!
