Wow, you took me there. Beny More is one of my all time favorites of the old school Afro-Cuban music. His music takes m to what life and music must have been like when I was born. It's particularly near and dear to my heart. When I actually visited Cuba for the first time, it was like entering a memory of a past I didn't live--but close to it. Your link took me right back there. Thanks for the mini vacation.

Now, music for my wedding scene in Daughters of the Stone: This is Fiesta en el Batey. I wanted to capture the rhythm, sense of community and energy and joy of the enslaved people when they celebrated life even under the most dire of conditions.

I adore Beny More!! There isn't a week that goes by that I don't listen to something by him. And just watched the Fiesta en el Batey video and LOVED it. Hard to stay seated with all that going on ... Abrazos and thanks for sharing!

Another thing we have in common. I hear the drummers, especially if there are a lot of them, and my shoes come off and I'm gone. About Beny, Como Fué is my all time favorite. Last time I was on the island, we finally got to Santiago and right there at the terminal there was a huge display of CDs and guess who was prominently displayed. I had to go back for more cash. :)
