Memorial Drive is one of the best books I've read in several years. I was never a big memoir reader but this one pulled me in with its lyricism and it's pain. Her poetic voice lifts it from a painful memory to so much more. It started me down a long road of reading the memoirs of women I admire--Viola Davis, Cicely Tyson, Quiara Alegria Hudes and others. I highly recommend it as well.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Dahlma. It doesn't surprise me that we were both so taken with this memoir.
